The most romantic thing you can do for your (second) spouse is get a prenup

The statistics surrounding divorce have not improved much, and the statistics surrounding divorce for second marriages are even more grim. Most of my clients say they’ll “never get married again,” but really what they’re saying is they do not want to go through the pain of divorce again. The best way to avoid the pain is to plan ahead. A frank discussion about finances and expectations and a well-bargained pre-nuptial agreement takes away the pain of potential divorce (or at least reduces it substantially).

While no pre-nup is iron-clad in Wisconsin, because the law allows room for the unforeseen, there are ways to approach the topic with sensitivity and clarity, and a good pre-nup is often a great path to a long happy marriage. What could be more romantic?
