Picture an organization where every employee has a career development plan they were part of creating, thus enabling how they perform in their organizations. That vision is why business owners work with me to engage their employees in career development activities. Too often, performance management and employee development get mixed into one, and we don’t know the hidden value that employees can bring to an organization. Spending a little time each quarter to focus on one’s vision of their development plans and career path helps offset the hidden “people taxes” that derive from employee disengagement and potentially employee replacement.
